Mini-games... in MY MMO?

It's more likely than you think!

I've recently sat down and typed up a walkthrough on how I design mini-games for Stargate Worlds. Nothing earthshaking in it, but it was a fun article to write.

Got a private message about this, so I will comment here:

My position at Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is that of a Systems Designer, and in my charge for the upcoming MMO "Stargate Worlds" is designing the crafting system for the game and all the mini-games for the game. Additionally, I am responsible for the social flow and systems that relate to the game(such as chat), and the economic layout and balancing of the MMO.

Since these are all my favorite things to work on, this is pretty much the ultimate MMO-related design job for me. :)

It's an interesting entry, like how what mentioned so far fits in with the entire feeling of SG. Will be interesting to see how these mini games work out ingame, whether those sound effects along will really get me going for it as the tension builds up :).

Good read.

When translating design from abstract to logic is a problem I sat in with several months ago. A friend of my brothers describing graphic concepts to coders for software involving homeland security.
I was a stooge in her mock presentation and offered feedback.

Also the effort required in what is enough as opposed to too much, very important. Hard to judge as it has a lot to do with the demographic of users as well as the importance of the activity.
My preference is for simple mini's, while others prefer complexity.

Glad to see you are at home now.
I'm still waiting for a decent sandbox game.
Slowly losing interest though as my idea of what is fun may not be mainstream.
